C. G. Jung
Carl Gustav Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist. He was born in 1875, and died in 1961. He was a contemporary of Sigmund Freud (died 1939). Jung founded the field of analytical psychology, and his main contributions to the understanding of BDSM (at least in terms of this present site) were psychological archetypes and the collective unconscious.
D. W. Winnicott
Donald Woods Winnicott was an English pediatrician and psychoanalyst. He was born in 1896, and died in 1971. Working with children for most of his professional life, Winnicott saw and researched many of the the processes leading to the developed adult human mind. As far as this site is concerned, his work on the True Self / False Self is very important to the understanding of some of the motivations for BDSM. His "Good-Enough Mother" work was pretty cool, too.
