Slaves as labour-saving devices?

I suppose that it's expected that we masters put our slaves to work for us. I mean, why have a slave if we can't get them to tote that barge and lift that bale? Aren't they there to do the "heavy lifting" in our lives? And, in fact, if we're doing our job properly shouldn't our slave be someone we see bowing under the pressure, who has sweat pouring from their fevered brow as we push them ever harder until we finally relent and let them fall to the floor begging for water and rest after we've drained them completely dry of energy. And then, once we're done, we look at this "puddle" on the floor, pat ourselves on our collective backs and think, "Good job!"

Of course this is the way things should be, isn't it?

I suppose the question actually should be: What is a slave? It can be a bit misleading, I think, to take the classical definition of a slave and apply it to the guys and girls we have at our feet. While we might be able to send our slave or submissive off to run errands, and having them in the house means that certain things are better managed, cleaner, tastier or neater than if we were left to do them ourselves, I'm not sure that it's actually a case of them being labour-saving devices.

Being a dominant or a master can be exceptionally cool. I know 'cos I am one. But it's not all beer and skittles. I think that our workload actually increases when we have a slave or submissive, however the nature of this additional workload is something we enjoy and find satisfying so that it can seem that we're working less because the work we're doing is a pleasure instead of a burden. And really, isn't this what we should all be doing - looking for work which we love?

This work of being a dominant involves planning, directing and, of course, dominating. Often there is a lot of focus and attention required. Good dungeon scenes don't just happen. Good discipline in the household doesn't just happen.

So, to answer my initial question: Yes, I think slaves and submissives are labour-saving devices and they can make life pretty cushy, but it's not a free ride. Maybe think of it like this: Slaves and submissives are like a pedal-powered toaster where you have to work for your toast.

I'm assuming, of course, that you like toast. I love mine with gobs of butter.

And with that imagery, I bid you adieu until next time.
