A mistress is often seen as the female analogue of a master. This may frequently be the case, but some observers and commentators have noted that mistresses often have a different type of relationship with their submissives and slaves than do masters.
Mistresses are far more common in the BDSM service industry (i.e., in professional BDSM houses or establishments) than masters.
