The Control Book
6. Footnotes
1. Controlling someone by physical force is
different to taking control of someone using physical force--using
it as a tool, if you will. I will be looking at this latter case
but not the former.
2. Subspace, in fewer words than
necessary to do it justice, is a typically inwardly-focussed state
of mind accompanied by emotional or spiritual feelings such as
loss of identity, floating, feelings of belonging, being protected
and desire to please the dominant.
3. Pun intended. Maybe I should have said
trial and error?
41. It's time for a regular reminder that we
may not be talking here about conscious awareness or a conscious
transfer of control.
42. A reference to an obscure piece of torture
equipment used by the infamous, mid-to-late twentieth century
intellectual group known as Monty Python.
58. Such as gestures, posture or facial
expressions that mirror what you are saying. A couple of examples
might be using hand gestures towards the floor at the same time as
you tell them to kneel, or a stern facial expression at the same
time as you are admonishing them.
59. Both geographically-such as indoors,
outdoors, which room of the house-and mentally/spiritually.
69. Just???
70. Note that dominants have their rituals
too, of course.
71. Rituals exist in very many forms. Consider
a "good" Catholic, for example. They might go to church every
Sunday, but the fact that they go to church doesn't inherently
make them into a better human-being. They could be just as moral,
or just as kind-hearted and generous if they stayed at home, but
the regular ritual of going to church is a way of expressing
that they are a good and enthusiastic catholic.
76. For the linguistically kinky magic is also
known as "thaumaturgy".
