About me

Yours truly has been on this planet since the late 50's. I live in Sydney, Australia, and beyond spending just over seven years in a couple of non-English speaking parts of Europe, I have spent my whole life here. If my name hasn't given it away yet: I'm male.

I am very curious and hunger to learn new things, and this is probably one of my defining characteristics.

I love teaching and training, and these are both things that I've been doing since my late teens. From time to time I run workshops related to the topics in my writing, and for a number of years I chaired or co-chaired a regular discussion series on D&s.

I'm more than happy to consider invitations to do workshops or give talks.

By day I work at a university. I enjoy Monty Python and British humour. I love science-fiction. I could tinker with computers all day.

My writing and this site

At times when I am learning something, I like to sit down and write about it. To do a good job of this, I need both to develop a good structure, and I need to make sure that what I write is convincing and doesn't have any holes in it. If I don't fully understand what I'm writing about, then I simply end up with a confusing mix of ideas. Thus, putting what I've learned down in words is how I test myself to see whether I really know what I'm talking about.

If I do a good job of writing then I can also publish it for other people to read. In my own small way I like to hope that my ideas and experiences may be of use to others. Hence this web site.

I write on a number of themes:

  • Self-awareness and personal development,
  • Hypnosis,
  • Mastery & slavery, and
  • Dominance & submission.

Self-awareness and personal development

In my own way I have been deliberately searching for ways to understand myself better ever since I was in my teens. I think that learning about one's self is important for many reasons, not least of which is that it allows you to focus on developing the things about you that are real and genuine, rather than the things that maybe fear or your ego tell you that you should be doing.

Hypnosis

Hypnosis has been an interest and passion of mine also since my teens. It's hard (but not impossible) to say exactly what makes up this fascination, but I have always enjoyed having fine young women under my influence, and I also love observing and analysing the behaviour of other humans.

Mastery, slavery, dominance and submission

While I align myself, in a way, with the wonderful world of BDSM, I find myself often exploring areas of seemingly little interest to many others also "into" BDSM. The big differences between me and them seem to be love, sex and pain. I am interested in authority, power and control, and while sex and pain are useful and very effective tools, to me they don't represent the goal. To many others they do.

I firmly believe that in many of us there are deep-seated and powerful drives towards controlling and being controlled, towards dominance and submission. In our society it's often difficult for those of us experiencing these drives to find outlets for them. BDSM provides some hope, but the diversity of the the BDSM scene means that a focus on this particular aspect is difficult to find and maintain when there is so much competition from other aspects of BDSM.

In particular, the love, sex and pain sides of BDSM are easy, relatively non-threatening and even socially acceptable. Looking for the deeper feelings and needs of "straight" dominance and submission is often, in this environment, very, very difficult.

I write to help myself understand; trying to write helps me put structure to my ideas and quickly reveals the things I don't know. I hope that this site will be a resource for those seeking to understand power and surrender, dominance and submission, authority, power and control. But more than that it's a place to air my thoughts and ideas get feedback from others with similar drives.
